JOB SUMMARY:
Emergency Department RN is qualified to provide emergency patient care and supervise LPN, EMT and pre-hospital care personal. The RN is responsible for assuring that the highest quality patient care is maintained at all times. Care is rendered to patient of all ages with illnesses, diseases and/or physical limitations. This job description is base on an evaluation of the position at the time this description was written. This job description will change from time to time as tasks; organization and technology changes, the employer reserves the right to revise add to or eliminate any part of this job description at any time.
As a representative of Page Memorial Hospital, all comments, attitudes, actions and behaviors have a direct effect on the hospital’s image and perceptions of customer service quality. The behavior of the staff should promote an atmosphere of team work which is congruent with hospital standards and guidelines to promote positive relations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Graduated from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed or eligible to practice pending licensures as an RN in the Commonwealth of Virginia or holds a Multi-State licensure that is valid in the State of Virginia
* At least one year previous experience in Medical/Surgical Unit - Acute Care, Emergency Department preferred
* Competent in providing care based on the cognitive, physical, emotional chronological stages of human growth and development
* Must conduct oneself in a highly ethical manner
* Must practice in a manner which resulting in the accomplishment of our mission/vision
* Always respect the rights and dignity of others
* Must have reliable means of phone communication with the hospital
* Must have reliable means of transportation to and from work
* Completed ED orientation
* Maintains CPR certification
* Completed course in cardiac monitoring, within 6 months of employment, required
* Completed course in Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months of employment, required
* Completed course in Pediatric Advance Life Support, preferred
* Criminal Background Checks include:
VA State Police
Third-party background check:
Must be capable of dealing with emotional stress associated with patient care (i.e., death. Etc.) Must be reliable in attendance, punctuality and use benefits appropriately. Candidates must be flexible, tactful, maintain confidentiality and handle stressful situations in a professional manner.
